About the Show
What does it mean to affirm your identity on your own terms? What memories, objects, or creative acts have helped you become more yourself?
Objects of Affirmation is a community-centered art exhibition inspired by the powerful work of the Museum of Transology, the UK’s largest collection of objects documenting trans, non-binary, and intersex lives through everyday items and handwritten narratives. Like the museum, this show invites LGBTQIA+ artists and creatives to share both artworks and meaningful objects that reflect and affirm their identities.
We welcome affirmations of the full self. Whether you’re embracing your queerness, celebrating your cultural heritage, navigating disability or motherhood, or honoring your BIPOC identity, your story matters. Through personal art and objects, we’re building a living archive of becoming, resilience, and joy.
In addition to visual artwork, we are accepting objects that represent personal affirmation; items from your life that carry meaning, significance, or transformation. Artists are encouraged to submit a short written reflection to accompany their piece, echoing the Museum of Transology’s practice of preserving story and object together.
