Performing Arts are incredibly important to Queerlective and we were thrilled to be able to help bring a variety of acts to the celebration this year. The New Hampshire Gay Men's Chorus serenaded the crowd with their powerful harmonies, their voices echoing the resilience and unity of the LGBTQ+ community. Drag queen extraordinaire, Chi Chi Marvel, took the stage, exuding charisma and commanding the attention of everyone present. Her captivating performance, recognized with the prestigious Miss Tony Future of Drag Award, showcased the transformative power of drag and its role in breaking down barriers.

At the Queer Art Extravaganza, art was not just observed; it was experienced and celebrated. Attendees were invited to immerse themselves in a variety of interactive art activities that encouraged participation and personal expression. From spray-painting four-foot-tall wooden letters with vibrant colors to engaging in a thought-provoking chalkboard affirmation exercise, everyone had the opportunity to leave their mark on the event. The cyanotype activity, led by Amber-Nicole Cannan of Unchartered Tutoring, allowed individuals to create unique blueprints using sunlight, further embodying the spirit of creativity and exploration.

Embracing Community and Connection

Beyond the artistic displays and performances, the Queer Art Extravaganza fostered a sense of community and belonging. Local poet Cathy Schmitz engaged in heartfelt conversations with attendees, crafting custom poems that encapsulated their personal stories and experiences. The Progress Pride Flag, adorned with faux flowers, became a collaborative effort as individuals joined together to fill it with vibrant colors, symbolizing unity and inclusivity.

Despite the occasional rain showers, the Queer Art Extravaganza remained a testament to the strength and resilience of the queer community. It was heartwarming to witness people of all ages, genders, and backgrounds engaging with the arts, finding inspiration, and forming connections. The event served as a reminder that no matter the challenges we face, the power of art and the unwavering spirit of pride will always prevail.
